Compose uses reusable blocks inside sections. The same Heading, Text, Button, Group, and media blocks can be used in different compositions; the blocks available depend on the section you are editing.

Build a composition

  1. Open the required template in the theme editor and select a section.
  2. Choose Add block and select an available block. Some sections contain fixed blocks that you edit rather than remove.
  3. Use Heading for a heading, Text for supporting copy, and Button for a link or action. Enter the button label and destination.
  4. Add a Group when several blocks should share layout or alignment. Add child blocks inside it, then set their direction, gap, width, and alignment using the controls shown.
  5. Use the available media block to add an image or video. Check the image fit and mobile image where those controls are available.
  6. Reorder the blocks in the sidebar, save, and preview the result on desktop and mobile.

Product and resource blocks

Use product-specific blocks in Product page or Product, where product data is available. Resource cards can expose their own child blocks for titles, prices, tags, and buttons. Change the appropriate card block rather than entering product data as plain text.

Layout styles and slides

For product and collection sections, choose the supported layout Style, then adjust the visible column, card, carousel, or Bento controls. Not every layout displays every control. In Slideshow, edit each slide's content and media, then configure the section's autoplay and navigation controls. Preview mobile crops and allow enough time to read each slide.

When a block is unavailable

Block choices depend on the parent section and template. Open the correct template and parent before adding a block. Contact support if you cannot find the expected block; include the template and section names.
